VERONIKA HARCSA BIOGRAPHY
Singer, songwriter and music therapist. The first recipient of the newly founded Bartók Prize.
She studied jazz at the Liszt Academy of Music and at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
Two of her albums reached the top of the vocal jazz charts at Tower Records, Japan, she won the Hungarian Grammy two times, and her jazz project performed in 40 countries around the world. Her albums are available under Jazzhaus Records, Traumton Records and BMC Records.
Due to her unique technique she quickly became a sought after singer to interpret new pieces by contemporary composers across Europe. She is also focusing on renewing the 19th and 20thcentury’s classical song repertoire through electronics infused rearrangements and improvisations. Her project Debussy NOW! was nominated for the Classical:NEXT Innovation Award 2022. In the same series Schubert NOW! Is coming out in February 2025 on BMC Records.
Besides her touring career Veronika recently finished her studies in music therapy at the University of Pécs, with the goal of creating an interactive concert experience of a new format, letting the audience reconnect with the joy of making sound, as part of the compositions. The project InterAction saw its debut with percussionist-pianist Nora Thiele and the experimental choir Soharóza in 2023 and 2024. The album, concerts and workshops will be available in 2025, after Veronika returned from maternity leave.
